WHY IS THE FILM WORTH A WATCH?

The film Sirf Ek Banda Kafi Hai is a biopic of Adv. P.C. Solanki who single handedly sought justice for a young girl by fighting a legal battle for five long years. The film depicts the sensitivity of the matter in a non sensationalized way and presents the raw reality of the events. The film sheds light on the struggle of those who raise their voice against any injustice done to them and have to prove that their trauma, whether mental or physical, has a solid base while no one seems to question the culprit. The film also brings out how the powerful seem to use their wealth to suppress the voice of the oppressed and harass them. In the film, the Godman men not only killed the main witnesses but also tried to bribe the victim and Adv Solanki to keep their mouths shut. Sirf Ek Banda Kafi Hai brings out the irony of unquestioned faith and how people like Babaji take undue advantage of this to oppress people, especially women.

Though it took years for Nu to get justice, the film does bring out the fact that it might take some time but the Indian Legal System will ultimately provide justice. The laws are made in a way that it takes into consideration every small aspect that can turn the case, here in the film the questions on Nu’s age and the documents supporting or deflating the claim.

The film is power packed by stellar performance by the actors and a slow steady yet powerful storyline making it worth the watch. The film takes us through a very important life lesson when Adv. Solanki gives his closing statement in court and states that Babaji is like Ravaan- he pretended to be a godman and took advantage of the girl. When the protector turns destroyer, it creates a negative impact on the society. Crimes like these cannot be forgiven. Crimes that have been committed outrightly still deserve forgiveness, however, crime committed under the pretence of good can never be forgiven.
